Facilitators
Dr. Alex Carmitchel (she/hers) is a queer cisgender woman, dedicated nurse, and loving mother to her 8-year-old daughter. Alex works as a professor at Denver College of Nursing and as a nurse consultant for a Denver-based non-profit, where she advocates for parents and children across the state. Since high school, Alex has been an active member of Out Boulder as both a volunteer and program participant. Her involvement is driven by a passion for supporting and building LGBTQIA+ community. As a queer single parent, Alex hopes to create safe and welcoming spaces for parents to show up authentically and share their experiences.
Jenevieve (she, her, hers) is a cisgender woman, therapist, doula, empty-nesting parent, spouse and now a grandma. She strives to use her cis, white privileges to educate (especially in the birth/parenting worlds), to support and lift up the various seen and unseen needs in the queer communities. She has personal experiences in queer communities since 1998, as an intentional single parent, now pi/pan/bisexual in a in a straight relationship. She brings her decades of professional experience (retired doula of 20yrs attended 450 births; current perinatal trauma therapist for 20yrs) specializing in perinatal and early parenting to offer a brave place for queer and trans parents to come together, as we navigate our own parenting journeys, in all that is real.
